苏州是我国历史文化名城之一，民族乐器生产已有一千余年悠久历史，据史料记载，乐器制作早在宋代已有初具规模的民间作坊生产，至清代乾隆年间苏州乐器制作艺人钱君达、张玉成二人曾被召集进京为皇宫制作宫庭乐器。由于苏州的乐器制作水平技艺高超，在清代许多乐器以其自身固有的地方韵味而冠以“苏笛、苏笙苏管、苏锣”之称。为当时苏南地区(含上海)乐器制作业的行会所在地。五十年代以后，苏州的民族乐器生产在各方面都得到了充分的发展，逐步丰富和完善了具有苏州特色的乐器产品，并改进与发掘了濒于泯灭的古代乐器，如唐代乐器、箜篌、编钟等。

六十年代初，我厂生产的红木专业二胡在全国行业评比中荣获音质和外观工艺第一名，其形制作为全行业同类产品的标准基础。

八十年代，我厂生产的红木专业二胡再获行业最高荣誉——国家银质奖；精制二节笛、专业中阮红木专业琵琶、真丝弦线等十八只品种荣获轻工业部优质产品称号，其获奖品种之多为同行业之首。

九十年代中期，随着经济体制改革的不断深入，原苏州民族乐器三厂、苏州天雀乐器厂被并入本厂，形成了具有“虎丘”牌民族拉弦乐器、弹拨乐器、吹管乐器的“姑苏”牌民族打击乐器，以及“虎丘”牌、“江南牌”乐器用弦和各类乐器配件共有几十个产品系列；一千余个品种的民族乐器生产企业。为了不断提高产品质量，本厂特邀请国内外四十二位著名演奏家及教授为我厂技术顾问，定期召开学术研讨会，优化产品质量，满足专业音乐团体及乐器爱好者的需求。

今年，为了适应市场经济发展的需要，我厂进行了整厂改制，工厂成为有限责任公司，改制后的企业将一如既往信奉“质量第一，用户至上”的治厂宗旨，竭诚为国内外专业文艺团体和商业客户服务，为繁荣我国的民族乐器事业发挥更大的作用。 

英文翻译：Suzhou is one of the famous historical and cultural cities in China. The production of national musical instruments has a long history of more than one thousand years. According to historical records, the production of musical instruments began to take shape in folk workshops in the Song Dynasty. During the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, two Suzhou musical instrument producers, Qian Junda and Zhang Yucheng, were called to Beijing to make palace musical instruments for the imperial palace. Because of Suzhou's superb musical instrument production skills, many musical instruments in the Qing Dynasty were called "Suzhou flute, Suzhou Sheng, Suzhou pipe and Suzhou Gong" because of their inherent local charm. It was the guild seat of musical instrument making industry in southern Jiangsu (including Shanghai) at that time. After the 1950s, Suzhou's national musical instrument production has been fully developed in all aspects, gradually enriching and improving the musical instrument products with Suzhou characteristics, and improving and exploring the ancient musical instruments, such as Tang Dynasty musical instruments, harps, chimes and so on. In the early 1960s, the mahogany erhu produced by our factory won the first place in the national industry appraisal in terms of sound quality and appearance technology, and its shape production is the standard basis for similar products in the whole industry. In the 1980s, the mahogany erhu produced by our factory won the highest honor in the industry again - the National Silver Award; eighteen varieties of refined Erjie flute, professional zhongruan mahogany pipa, silk string and so on won the title of high-quality product of the Ministry of light industry, most of which are the first in the same industry. In the mid-1990s, with the deepening of the economic system reform, the original Suzhou National Musical Instrument Factory No.3 and Suzhou tianque musical instrument factory were incorporated into the factory, forming a "Gusu" national percussion instrument with "Huqiu" brand national stringed instrument, plucked instrument and wind instrument, and dozens of product series with "Huqiu" brand, "Jiangnan" instrument string and various instrument accessories Over 1000 kinds of national musical instrument manufacturers. In order to continuously improve the quality of our products, we invite 42 famous performers and professors at home and abroad as our technical consultants to hold regular academic seminars to optimize the quality of our products and meet the needs of professional music groups and instrument lovers.
