香港电视广播有限公司(简称无线电视)于一九六七年十一月十九日正式启播，是全港首间商营无线电视台。成立初期只有员工约二百名，经多年发展，集团至今共僱有约四千二百名全职僱员，其中包括合约艺员及海外附属公司员工。

在黄金广播时段，翡翠台及明珠台平均收视分别享有八成七及八成，由此可见其受欢迎程度。

为配合未来发展，无线电视耗资二十二亿港元于将军澳工业邨兴建一座新的电视广播城，新址的总建筑面积逾十一万平方米，较原有之清水湾电视城大三成，并已于二〇〇三年十月正式投入服务。电视广播城设备齐全，提供共两个外景拍摄场地及二十二个录像厂。此外，电视广播城亦增添新数码广播器材，务求为观众提供更高质素的服务。

二〇〇七年十二月三十一日，无线电视正式推出24小时高清频道──「高清翡翠台」，让观众于高清数码年代享受更多元化及优质的视听娱乐。除数码同步广播的翡翠台及明珠台外，无线电视于〇八年六月及○九年一月正式推出「J2」及「互动新闻台」数码频道。而互动电视服务也于〇八年八月八日正式投入服务，为免费电视观众提供互动数据电视服务。
