1992年公司在全国蓄电池行业实行股份制改造，股票于1994年3月20日在上海证券交易所正式上市交易，公司股票代码为600847。经过半个多世纪的发展，公司已具备了雄厚的技术力量，并能承担多品种、高技术含量的蓄电池开发和研究。公司通过四次大规模技术改造，先后从多个国家引进了具有国际专业水平的蓄电池成套生产线和检测设备，使公司的生产能力、产品质量和技术水平都跃上了新台阶。

2007年9月，公司根据重庆市人民政府“退二进三、退城进园”的战略部署，在重庆市江津区双福工业园区征地438亩，投资4亿元，分两期建设环保整体搬迁项目。

一期工程（年产起动型铅酸蓄电池100万只）投资1.6亿元，于2010年9月正式竣工投产。二期工程（年产300万只起动型免维护密封式铅酸蓄电池、年产1500万只电动车阀控式铅酸蓄电池、年产200万只汽车用阀控式铅酸弱混合动力电池）大部分项目已竣工投产。公司现已形成年产400万只起动用免维护铅酸蓄电池和年产1000万只电动车用铅酸蓄电池等生产能力。

整体搬迁后，公司又分别从多个国家全套引进了全球各类蓄电池生产设备和检测设备，公司生产能力和产品质量控制能力得到了极大提升。
