1978年,詹姆斯·戴森注意到球轮手推车喷涂室内的空气滤清器频繁遭遇粉状颗粒阻塞(正如真空吸尘器袋遭遇灰尘阻塞一样)。因此,他设计并建造了一座工业气旋塔,通过施加大于重力10万倍的离心力去除那些粉状颗粒。同样的原理在真空吸尘器上是否适用呢?詹姆斯·戴森就此着手研究工作,在5年内进行了5127次模型试验,最终世界首个无尘袋真空吸尘器经由戴森之手问世了。

戴森双气旋TM技术

DualCyclone?系统是自1901年真空吸尘器问世以来,真空吸尘技术领域内的重大突破。

传统的集尘袋被两个cyclone替换,粉尘和污垢于此处在离心力的作用下从空气中分离出来。较大的颗粒在cyclone被分离出来,而较小的颗粒则在内旋风器中被分离出来。
多圆锥气旋TM技术

戴森的科学家们立志要开发出具有更大吸力的真空吸尘器。因此,他们着手研究工作,欲开发出一套全新的气旋系统。
他们发现,直径较小的气旋可以产生更大的离心力。因此,他们通过将一股气流分成8股小气旋的方式,开发出了一种比DualCyclone?真空吸尘技术多出45%的吸力,且吸尘效果更好的技术。
另一个解决的问题

“我喜欢你的真空吸尘器,但你是否会制造一款不需要推来推去的机器?”这句偶然的话语令詹姆斯·戴森陷入思考。

要研发一台可以在家具间自由组合并吸除微小尘粒的吸尘器不是件难事,但詹姆斯·戴森坚持认为戴森自动吸尘器DC06不应该仅能适当地完成清扫工作,而应当比人类还更具逻辑性地引导自己的工作。

研制这种有效、有条理的自动清扫程序共动用了3个星载计算机系统、50台感应设备,并花费了6万个小时。

戴森洗衣机

戴森的工程师们经常重新检视各种类型的产品,这其中便有洗衣机。

他们发现洗衣机的洗衣动作并没有大幅度地扭曲衣物。而这就导致洗衣机需要花很长的时间才可以洗净衣物上的污渍。
