上海凤凰毛毯是国产毛毯的老字号，从1922年创立至今，已有九十多年的历史，现在的上海凤凰毯业是上海龙头股份(集团)有限公司的全资子公司。

凤凰毛毯起源于1922年商人陆培芝创办的一家纱厂，其后几年该厂几经转手，并于1937年被侵华日军占有，划为海军衣量厂，专织军毯。1943年这间纱厂解除军管后被日本商人德珍正藏收购，改厂名为明丰纱厂。

1945年9月明丰纱厂由经济部接管（即中国纺织建设公司）改厂名上海第十八棉纺织厂，扩展棉纺设备，生产棉纱、线为主，兼营棉毯，直至上海解放。1955年底又转为专营棉毯、羊毛毯。

1972年，美国总统尼克松首次访华，当时根据市政府的指示，作为政治任务，上海第十八棉纺织厂对其所使用的商标“凤凰”重新设计并注册，新的“凤凰毛毯”作为国礼赠送给美国总统尼克松，从此上海凤凰毛毯享誉海内外，风靡市场。

1978年9月起将棉毯业务下放给南汇公社厂生产。第十八棉纺织厂与上海金山石油化工一期工程配套，专门生产腈纶毯、毛毯，更改厂名为上海毛毯厂。

英文翻译：Shanghai Phoenix blanket is a time-honored brand of domestic blanket. It has a history of more than 90 years since it was founded in 1922. Now, Shanghai Phoenix blanket industry is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Shanghai leading stock (Group) Co., Ltd. Phoenix blanket originated from a yarn factory founded by Lu Peizhi, a businessman in 1922. In the following years, the factory changed hands several times and was occupied by the Japanese invaders in 1937.
