江苏省溧阳市李家园茶场地处苏浙皖三省交界的群山竹海之中，位于天目湖旅游区的南山竹海旁，属中亚热带北缘的丘陵山区，气候温暖，雨水充沛，日照充足，四季分明，无污染。该场属江苏省经营规模最大的村级集体茶场，茶园面积933亩，其中无性良种茶园200亩，优级白茶200亩，优级黄茶200亩。制茶厂备有名茶，红碎茶，日本蒸青茶四条先进的生产线，拥有固定资产250多万元。李家园茶场年产各类各级茶叶100多吨，其中名特种茶15吨以上，出口蒸青茶5吨多，年产值400多万元，年上交税利，提留愈百万元。近年来引种天目湖白茶200亩，黄茶200亩，均属珍稀名贵品种，其中黄茶为我市独家首次引种，制成的茶香气特高，汤色清醇，回味甘甜，乃茶中珍品。在江苏省茶叶界老前辈张志澄先生指导下，李家园茶场于1986年创制成功名茶——南山寿眉，该名茶参加1989年全国名茶展评会，一举荣获“全国名茶”称号，1993年参加中国茶叶学会名茶评比夺得“中茶杯”特等奖。从1993年起，参加历届江苏省名特茶评比，连续四次获得“陆羽杯”特等奖。2003年被认定为“无公害”农产品；2004年被选入“中国名茶志”；2005年被选为“第九届中国溧阳茶叶节暨首届天目湖旅游节”指定用茶。

白茶历史悠久，素为茶中珍品，诞生迄今已有八百八十余年矣。宋徽宗在《大观论茶》中，有一节专论白茶曰：白茶，自为一种，与常茶不同。其条敷阐，其叶莹薄，林崖之间，偶然生出，虽非人力所可致。有者，不过四五家；生者，不过一二株；所造止于二三胯（銙）而已。芽英不多，尤难蒸焙，汤火一失则已变而为常品。须制造精微，运度得宜，则表里昭彻如玉之在璞，它无与论也。浅焙亦有之，但品不及。
