ThinkPad名称

“ThinkPad”这个名称的灵感来自IBM的便笺簿。每一位IBM的雇员或到IBM训练中心受训的人,都会拿到一本便笺簿(“便笺簿”英文为“pad”),上面印着企业的座右铭“THINK”。在一次讨论便携式电脑产品名称的会议上,一名与会者随手将一本这样的便笺簿甩到半空然后落在了会议桌上,另一名与会者受此启发提出可以用“ThinkPad”这个名称。起初IBM高层一度反对使用这个名称,因为以前IBM一直使用数字为标识产品型号。但是“ThinkPad”这个名称受到广大雇员和客户的极大欢迎和喜爱,最终IBM高层妥协同意使用“ThinkPad”作为产品名称。
Thinkpad与联想

2004年12月8日,联想集团在北京正式宣布以总价12.5亿美元收购IBM的全球PC业务,其中包括台式机业务和笔记本业务。具体支付方式则包括6.5亿美元现金和6亿美元的联想股票。在交易之后,联想控股将拥有联想集团45%左右的股份,IBM公司将拥有18.5%左右的股份,而此次并购被看成是中美两家IT厂商的战略合作行为。新的联想集团在五年内有权根据有关协议使用IBM的品牌,并完全获得商标及相关技术,这就使得联想的产品在全球PC市场上具有了最广泛的品牌认知。

英文翻译:ThinkPad, known as "ThinkPad" in Chinese, was a portable computer brand owned by IBM PC business division before 2005. It enjoys a high reputation in the industry with its strong and reliable features. After Lenovo acquired the IBM PC business unit, the ThinkPad trademark was owned by Lenovo. Since its inception, ThinkPad has always maintained its classic black appearance and has its own unique views on technology, such as trackpoint, thinklight keyboard light, full-size keyboard and APS (active protection system). The ThinkPad name "ThinkPad" is inspired by IBM's pad. Every IBM employee or trainee at IBM training center will get a pad with the motto "think". Another participant was inspired to suggest that the name "ThinkPad" could be used. At first, IBM executives objected to using the name because IBM had always used numbers to identify product models. ThinkPad and Lenovo announced in Beijing on December 8, 2004 that Lenovo Group would purchase IBM's global PC business, including desktop and notebook businesses, for a total price of US $1.25 billion. Specific payment methods include $650 million in cash and $600 million in Lenovo stock. After the deal, Lenovo holdings will own about 45% of Lenovo Group and IBM will own about 18.5% of Lenovo Group. The merger and acquisition is regarded as a strategic cooperation between China and the United States. 北京:轨道交通列车最高运行速度提升至每小时120公里
