结合茂迪对于仪器以及太阳能的专业知识，再加上推广太阳能运用的前提下，茂迪在2002年成立了电力事业部，从事太阳光电系统的设计和安装，以减少发电时对环境的污染。在2003年时，「运用先进的科技来营造永续的环境(ModernTechnologyforaSustainableWorld)」成为茂迪的企业标语，来强调我们对于维护永续环境的信念。自2004年起，茂迪仪器事业部着手研发太阳能发电系统关键零组件太阳能逆变器，并于2012年初将其仪器事业部旗下之量测仪器部门资产售予长期合作的客户B&KPrecisionCorporation("B&K公司")，以期更专注于太阳能产业。2012年5月，茂迪更进一步将仪器事业部及电力事业部合并成为仪电事业中心，整合此两大部门的资源，期能提供客户更专业及完整的服务。

茂迪于2006年12月20日同时通过ISO14001环境管理系统以及OHSAS18001职业安全卫生管理系统之认证，为台湾第一家同时通过该两项认证之太阳能电池制造公司。

2009年，茂迪总产出达360MW，是全球前十大太阳能电池制造厂。茂迪（苏州）新能源有限公司2006年12月31日，茂迪全资子公司茂迪（苏州）新能源有限公司成立，旨在进一步巩固及拓展中国大陆市场，茂迪（苏州）新能源有限公司位于江苏省昆山市高新区可再生能源产业基地。于2007年3月破土动工，并于2008年9月顺利建成投产。2009年底产能达到130MW。

Maudi is currently the world's top 10 solar cell manufacturer. Maudi was founded in 1981 under the name of "meter International Corporation". It started with the design and production of advanced measuring instruments, and then engaged in the solar photovoltaic industry. In 1997, maudi established the photoelectric business department, becoming the first solar cell manufacturer in Taiwan. The original measuring instrument department was called the instrument business department. In response to the expansion of the company's business scope, modi changed its English name from meter International Corporation to Motech industries, Inc. Combined with maudi's professional knowledge of instruments and solar energy, and on the premise of promoting the use of solar energy, maudi established the power business department in 2002 to engage in the design and installation of solar photovoltaic system, so as to reduce environmental pollution during power generation. In 2003, "modern technology for a sustainable world" became a corporate slogan of modi to emphasize our belief in maintaining a sustainable environment.
