云南大学艺术与设计学院是云南省“211”工程建设大学下属的专业艺术院校。1994年4月，云南大学与马来西亚国际现代设计集团联合创办成立了云南大学国际现代设计艺术学院，成为国内同类院校中较早设立的设计学院之一。2005年12月，国际现代设计艺术学院与艺术学院合并，成立云南大学艺术与设计学院。学院自创办以来，本着立足西南、辐射全国、面向世界的发展目标，积极坚持国际化建设方向，通过“以创带基，因材施教”的教学模式，加强学生综合能力培养。

教学机构上，学院目前下设美术系、音乐系、环境设计系、视觉传达设计系、数码媒体艺术设计系、服装与服饰设计系。现有少数民族艺术和文艺学博士点导师两位，拥有一级学科硕士学位授权（艺术学理论、美术学）2 个、艺术专业硕士 1 个（涵盖美术、音乐和设计方向）、二级学科硕士学位授权(中国少数民族艺术)1个、本科专业6个（美术学、音乐学、绘画、环境设计、视觉传达设计、服装与服饰设计）。在校本科生、研究生1000余人。学院自创办以来，已向社会输送毕业生4000余名，近五年来毕业生就业率平均达95%以上。在硬件方面，学院拥有设施完善的教学平台。绘画类学科拥有教学工作室2个；学生公共画室31个，教师画室32个；美术馆1个，美术展厅3个，艺术人类学博物馆1个；设计类学科有三维动画工作室、视频设计工作室、平面设计工作室、数字声音工作室等20个工作室。学院有专用多媒体教室40个，专用音乐教室7个、专用琴房30间、音乐实验剧场1个，教学实习基地2个。

今后一个时期，学院将不断增强办学实力，提高办学质量；广泛利用国内外学术资源，强化优势学科、发展特色学科。努力把学院建设成为艺术学科比较齐备，专业结构科学合理，办学条件优良的高水平艺术学院，成为以民族艺术和当代艺术为特色的艺术教育、科研和实践创新中心。

英文翻译：The College of art and design of Yunnan University is a professional art college under the "211" Engineering Construction University of Yunnan Province. In April 1994, Yunnan University and international modern design group of Malaysia jointly established the international modern design art college of Yunnan University, becoming one of the earliest design colleges of the same kind in China. In December 2005, the International College of modern design art and the art college were merged to establish the art and Design College of Yunnan University. Since its establishment, the college has actively adhered to the direction of international construction in line with the development goal of being based on the southwest, radiating the whole country and facing the world, and strengthened the cultivation of students' comprehensive ability through the teaching mode of "teaching according to students' aptitude, bringing the foundation with creation".
