首都医科大学宣武医院创建于1958年，是一所以神经科学和老年医学为重点，以治疗心脑血管疾患为主要特色，承担着医疗、教育、科研、预防、保健和康复任务的大型三级甲等综合医院。

医院是教育部国家生命科学与人才培养基地-首都医科大学神经病学系、普通外科学系、皮肤与性病学系、老年医学系和首都医科大学神经外科学院二系的系主任单位，拥有博士点20个，硕士点16个。
