包头草原糖业（集团）有限责任公司1996年由原包头糖厂改组设立，全套设备和技术从原民主德国引进，是新中国成立后我国北方建厂较早、规模较大、现代化程度较高的大型机制糖厂，1952年筹建，1955年建成投产。
